Ocular Microbiota Test: Check Your Eye Health
The ocular microbiota test analyzes in detail the microbial ecosystem living on the eye surface, allowing to prevent infections and inflammations before they manifest with evident symptoms.
Why choose the ocular microbiota test?
  • Early diagnosis: identifies in advance alterations in the microbial flora that can favor eye infections.
  • Simple and non-invasive monitoring: the kit arrives at home, after the sample collection, it is sent to the laboratory.
  • Clear and complete report: receive detailed information about your ocular microbiota, with useful indications for the doctor.
  • Suitable for all contact lens wearers and anyone who wants to maintain good ocular health.

What does the test detect?
Thanks to advanced genetic sequencing techniques, the test provides an accurate and complete mapping of the ocular microbiota, identifying any imbalances (dysbiosis) that predispose to pathologies.
In addition, the test identifies the presence and quantity of:
  • Bacteria: both useful commensal (such as Staphylococcus epidermidis, Corynebacterium) and pathogens often involved in infections, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
  • Viruses: for example adenovirus and herpes simplex viruses, common causes of viral conjunctivitis and keratitis.
  • Fungi: such as Candida and Fusarium, responsible for severe mycotic infections.
  • Parasites: such as Acanthamoeba, particularly relevant for contact lens wearers and cause of severe keratitis.

Why is it important?
Knowing your ocular microbiota means being able to intervene early on microbial alterations, preventing infections, inflammations and damage to the cornea, thus maintaining your eye health and well-being over time.
